Event Rock & Roll History Art Rock The Progressives Charles Bergeron, Ph.D. , Professor of Jazz History and Program Director for Jazz Pedagogy at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music Explore the quintessential contributions of musical groups that defined the genre known as progressive rock. Improvisation, electronic instruments, theatrics and artistry at the highest level helped to define this rock subgenre that emerged in the late 1960s and '70s, emblematic of groups such as King Crimson, Genesis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Rush, Yes and many more who were influenced by classical, jazz and folk music — and often experimented with long song structures which frequently demanded intense technical virtuosity. This presentation is part of Charles Bergeron's Rock & Roll History series. This Lifelong Learning Rock & Roll History lecture is generously sponsored by The Arlington of Naples. -->
